He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Jane Hunt; his children, Mary Theresa Vey and John "Jay" Jr.; his grandson TJ; his parents, Mary Hunt and Patrick Hunt; and his brothers, Thomas (late Jane) and Patrick (late Jean).

He is survived by: his children, Patricia Ercole (Dominic), Catherine Hunt, Joanne Turner (Mark), Thomas (Barbara), Charles (Holly), James (Michele) and Stephen Hunt (Katie); his children-in-law, Michael and Laura; and his sister-in-law Bernie Hunt. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren, his great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Friday, May 30th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the St. Anastasia Church (3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, May 30th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Saint Anastasia Roman Catholic Church (3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073). A burial was held on Friday, May 30th 2025 at the Ss Peter & Paul Cemetery (1600 Sproul Rd, Springfield, PA 19064).
