With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard Neil Smith of Bruin, Pennsylvania, born in Butler, Pennsylvania, who passed away on May 23, 2024 at the age of 71. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

In the sacred silence of farewell, Richard is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that his light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of his loved ones. And as his memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Richard's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert G. Smith and Eleanor C. McGarvey; and his siblings, Gale Smith, Linda Sheakley and Pam Emery.

He is survived by : his daughter Alisa C. Buzzard of Chicora, PA.; his grandson Austin Gauge Buzzard of Chicora; his brother Michael J. (Darla Smith); and his brothers-in-law, Rod Sheakley of Petrolia and John Emery of Bruin, PA..

Visitation was held on Saturday, May 25th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Steighner Funeral Home (111 E Slippery Rock St, Chicora, PA 16025). A funeral service was held on Sunday, May 26th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, May 28th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Greenlawn Burial Estates (731 W Old Rte 422, Butler, PA 16001).
