He was predeceased by: his parents, John O. Mayes and Alma Amanda Mayes (Sprankle); his wife Irene Mayes; his siblings, James Mayes, Doris Leeper, John O. "Jack" Mayes, Jr., Donald Mayes, Clarence "Tom" Mayes and Mary Grace McKee; and his son-in-law Michael Fishter.
He is survived by: his children, Randy Mayes (Gail) of Burnham, Cathy Fishter of Lewistown and Sally Hoar (Scott) of Burnham. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
