He was predeceased by: his parents, Dwayne Schmidt and Frances Johnston Schmidt; and his wife Sandra Ann Javornicky. He is survived by: his son George W. Schmidt Jr. (Nicole Welsh) of Houston; his grandchildren, Wolfgang Stallworth Schmidt and Ma'Kayla Welsh; his siblings, Wayne, Richard Schmidt and Linda Schmidt; his niece Tiffany Cruz (Mark); his daughter Marcy Javornicky; and his brother Lloyd Schmidt. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life was held on Sunday, October 5th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the American Legion Post #902 (124 W Pike St, Houston, PA 15342). A reception was held on Sunday, October 5th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location.
