He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover C. Stitzel and Flora E. Stitzel (Hess); his siblings, Mary, Alta, Phares, Clark and Ellsworth; and his partner's son Steve Smith.
He is survived by: his partner Shirley Smith; his children, Dale Stitzel, Jr. (Sheri), Michael Stitzel, Gary Stitzel, Sr. and Kathy Stitzel-Rogers; his grandsons, Gary Stitzel, Jr. and Charles Bitner III (Tasha); his daughter Christy Hershey (Jason); his great grandchildren, Gabriel, McKenna, Max Stitzel and Juliana Hershey; his stepchildren, Merle (Sharon), Debra (Denny), Maclay, Tammy Earnest (Walt) and Karen Smith; his sister-in-law Helen Stitzel; and his niece Kim Stitzel.
