He was predeceased by: his parents, George Darby Clepper and Dorothy Murtoff Clepper (Dunkle). He is survived by: his daughters, Jennifer Ellen Mangel (Kevin) of Pittsburgh and Emily Suzanne Clepper of Carlisle; his grandchildren, Faith Elizabeth Mangel and Brady Andrew Mangel of Pittsburgh; his brother Frederick M. Clepper of Largo; and his brother-in-law Alan C. Rotz (Patricia) of Allentown. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Choir Fund at the Carlisle United Methodist Church, 333 South Spring Garden Street, Carlisle, PA 17013.

“Darrell was well-known and universally popular at the Carlisle Family Y, which is where I used to see him most mornings up until a month ago. I believe he mentioned he used to teach math, and his wife taught English literature. He usually had plans for the day, dining with friends, helping out at his church (every Tuesday), or maybe taking a bus tour to see a show or visit a historical site. Unfailingly optimistic, he brightened every day I saw him. Deepest sympathies to his family.”
