He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry F. Kelso and Ailie Mae Kelso (Fraker); his sister Nancy Fetteroff; and his brother-in-law Raymond Fetteroff. He is survived by: his wife Linda Cook Kelso; his son Jason E. Kelso; his daughter-in-law Melissa L. Kelso; his granddaughters, Jolene Kelso and Brynn Kelso; and his siblings, Darlene Thumma (Gerald) and Glenn Kelso (Vonda). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
