He was predeceased by: his pets, Roady and Gunny. He is survived by: his daughter Ashleigh Cornish (Douglas Krausa); his friend Kim Senich; his cousin Shane O'Neill; his nephew Skyler Bombick; and his close friend Dexter.
In recent years, Richard found great enjoyment and camaraderie among fellow veterans with the Irreverent Warriors Foundation, where veterans come together for hikes and retreats across the country to improve mental health and prevent suicide.
