He was predeceased by: his parents, William Burns and Dorothy Serene Burns; and his siblings, Nancy Welch, Phillip and Donald Burns.
He is survived by: his wife Thelma Burns; his children, Michael, Randy, Deborah Heffern (Robert), Brian (Kim), Robert (Mary) and Lorrie Cubbon (Glenn); and his sister Barbara Seely. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; and twenty-four great-grandchildren.
