We announce the death of Gary D. Shetter Sr. (Chambersburg, Pennsylvania), who passed away on October 12, 2026, at the age of 82. Gary will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul E. Shetter Sr. and Dorothy E. Shetter (Seylar); and his siblings, Donald Shetter, Sr., Paul Shetter, Jr., Norma Horst and Joyce Shives.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Shetter (Whitfield) of Chambersburg, PA; his children, Gary Shetter Jr. (Melissa) of Everett, PA, Tina Smith (Tom) and Melanie Meyers (Gregory); and his sister Vonda Morrison (William) of Chambersburg. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center (333 Falling Spring Rd, Chambersburg, PA 17202). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home (333 Falling Spring Rd, Chambersburg, PA 17202).
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, where Gary could be found almost every day walking his beloved Charley in the shelter dog park.
