She was predeceased by: her parents, Norman Henry and Sara Jane Baer (Kraft); her husband Alvin Byers "AB" Hess; her son Russell A. Hess; and her siblings, Stuart K. "Stu" Baer and Mary Ellen Clark.

She is survived by: her son A. Roger Hess (Colleen) of Wichita, KS; her daughter-in-law Carol L. Hess; her grandchildren, Douglas A. Hess (Tiffany) of Chambersburg, PA and Sharon R. Purdy of Garden City, KS; her great grandchild Ayanna G. Hess; her siblings, Evangeline M. Osborne (Major) of Williamsport, MD, Phyllis A. Brady of Maugansville, MD and L. Jason Baer of Rockingham, VA; and her sister-in-law Lovina Baer of Greencastle, PA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
