He was predeceased by: his parents, Julian "Doc" Ivery and Annie Mae Jones; his brother George Arthur Ivery; and his grandson Zaquan Blackwell. He is survived by: his wife Deborah C. Ivery; his children, Elise Edwards, Gibson K. Ivery Jr. (Brandi) and Rashida Ivery; his grandchildren, Rasheed, Rashawn, Rayianna, Caylah, Brianna, Carter, Gibson III and Briana; his great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Khyree, Reign and Rasheed Jr.; his siblings, Shirley McLeod (Lester), Julian Ivery and Joanne Coleman (Francis); his siblings-in-law, Nan Harris and Nelson Cosby; and his close friend Gary Collins. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, friends.
During the Covid pandemic, he led the church in continuing fellowship through Zoom, ensuring that the congregation stayed connected.
His contributions to local athletics also earned him an induction into the Delaware County Black Hall of Fame in 1996 and the Chester High School Athletic Boosters Hall of Fame in 1997.
