He was predeceased by : his mother Lillian Stewart; his siblings, George Stewart, Edith Rasmussem and Carol Pringle; and his son William Stewart Jr..

He is survived by : his wife Carol Stewart; his brothers, Ronald McHorter and Thomas Stewart; and his children, Brion Stewart, Marc Stewart, Steven De Shields, Stacy, Bianca, Simone, Kierra, Latoya Stewart, Shavon Hallager and Avaya De Shields. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren.
