He was predeceased by: his father Carl H. Monk; and his brothers, Ronald and Robert Monk. He is survived by: his close friend Sherrie Hilton Root; his mother Laura Taylor Monk Kilgus of Little Britain; his daughter Paige E. Monk Lohr (Derek Lohr) of Christiana; his stepsons, Kenny, Shawn and Shane Root; and his sisters, Patty Monk of Quarryville, Jennifer "Rosie" Unruh of Galva, KS and Teresa Cadmus of Cochranville.
