He was predeceased by: his brothers-in-law, John Lavelle and Charlie Conant. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Nelson (Lavelle); his sons, Chris Nelson and Pete Nelson (Alyssa); and his sister Laurie Nelson (Peter Jessop).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Abington Rotary Club or the Ronald McDonald House of Scranton.
