James D. Seelye Obituary
We announce the death of James D. Seelye of Cogan Station, Pennsylvania, who passed away on September 14, 2026, at the age of 83. James will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
James will be remembered for the impact he had on the lives of those around him. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew James will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture his life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. James’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued his companionship.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorr Seelye and Beatrice Seelye (Briggs); his daughter Donna Seelye; and his sister Ellen Schwarz. He is survived by: his wife Virginia A. Seelye (Ruch); and his children, Frank Seelye, Ralph Seelye (Christine) and Ruth Filakosky (Joe). He is also survived by five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Calvary Church of the Nazarene (3200 Lycoming Creek Rd, Williamsport, PA 17701). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in James' name to the Susquehanna Health Foundation c/o The Gatehouse, 1001 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport, PA 17701.
