He was predeceased by : his son Billy; his siblings, Patrick, Vincent, Peggy, Tish, Charlie, Una and Jim; and his siblings-in-law, Ed and Dorothy Harkin.

He is survived by : his wife Anne; his children, Joe (Teresa), Brendan (Dawn), Mike (Debbie), Mary Morris (Joe), Pat (Courtney), Anne Filippone (Steve), Steve (Susan) and Kathleen Bryansmith (Craig); his siblings, Mary, Kathleen and Michael; his grandchildren, Christie Lion (Kevin), Kevin (Allison), Caitlyn Geraci (Dane), Liam, Colin, Wil, Kylie, Joe (Morris), Camryn, Julianna, Danny, Annora, Addy, Fiona, Declan and Jamison; and his great grandchildren, Madalyn and Emma. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers contributions in his name to Seasons Hospice Foundation, 6400 Shafer Court, Suite 700, Rosemont, Illinois 60018, https://seasonsfoundation.org or to the St. Thomas Monastery, 800 E. Lancaster Avenue, Villanova, PA 19085 for the sick and retired Friars, would be appreciated by the family.

Joe Ferry wrote a sympathy message

“To Anne & all the family, sincere sympathy on the sad passing of Joe. He gave me a soccer ball when I was a very young child in the 1960's before leaving to work in England & the USA. A college soccer tour to the States in 1981 led to my first meeting with him and you, his lovely family. He reminded me a lot of my own father Paddy, both cool dudes, never seemed to get flustered or over excited - perhaps the key to a long life. May he rest in peace.
