He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Janet Gainer Schwert; his parents, George H. Schwert and Edna Ehly Schwert; his children, Tammie Mutzabaugh, Brian Schwert, Kevin Schwert and Kelli O'Hara (John); his grandchildren, Alex, Austin Mutzabaugh, Hollie Schwert, Alexis Kopp and Zachary Schwert; and his great grandchildren, Dr. Marissa Kopp, Kalab and Jackson Hogarth.
