He was predeceased by: his parents, John Pelen and Phyllis Shortlidge Pelen; his son James G. Pelen; and his siblings, Donald "Nip" Pelen and Sara "Sally" Young.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Pelen of Columbia; his daughter Melissa (Jim Elliott) of York; his granddaughters, Kelsey Lenhert of Mount Joy and Kendall Lenhert of Lancaster; his great grandchild Joelle Lenhert of Mount Joy; his brother Tom Pelen of Millersville; and his stepgranddaughters, Madison Graham and Kendall Moxley. He is also survived by two step great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
