He was predeceased by: his father Earl; his wife Shirley Ellsworth Detwiler; and his siblings, John, Earl Detwiler, Eva Jean Weisgerber, Ruth Coughenour and Margaret "Jiggs" Sheets.

He is survived by: his daughter Kim Genova (Bart) of Maggie Valley, NC; his granddaughter Ashley Genova Rose (Michael); and his sisters, Helen Lubovinsky of Connellsville, Janet Mascia (Carl) of Greensburg and Dee Lilliock of Massachusetts.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society in honor of his daughter Kim who is a cancer survivor, who has battled cancer and has won.
