He was predeceased by: his parents, William Grant and Edna Marie Felton Smith; his stepfather Bruce Goodwin; his siblings, Dora Price, Ruth Shipley, Lela Gnagy, John Smith, Charles Smith and James Smith, Sr.; his half-siblings, Mamie Stahl, Etta Felton, Lewis, Wesley and Robert Smith; his sister-in-law Ida Smith; and his nieces, Carol Jean Smith Holl and Joyce Lincoln Bushmire.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Silbaugh Smith; his daughters, Susan Showman of Mt. Pleasant and Debra "Debbie" Renninger (Michael, Sr.); his grandchildren, Larry J. Showman, Jr., Stacey Showman, Christopher Showman, Ashley Renninger and Earl; his pet Mitzi; his sister-in-law Lazetta Silbaugh Sidwell; his nieces, Shawnee Rigger and Nancy Roudebush; and his nephew James R. Smith, Sr.. He is also survived by other numerous nieces and nephews.
