He was predeceased by: his parents, Darwin Rater and Helen Rater (Aldrich); his wife Joan K. Rater; and his brother Tim Rater. He is survived by: his children, Joanna Butcher of Corry, Scott Rater (Paula) of Huntersville, N. C. and Jeff Rater of Corry; his siblings, Linda Good (John) of Oregon, Danny Rater (Suzie) of French Creek, NY and Alan Rater (Sharon) of Findley Lake, NY; his siblings-in-law, Kathy Rater of French Creek, NY, Jean Merritt of Albion and Alan Dingfelder (Marie) of North East, PA.; his grandchildren, Caitlin, Shane, Seth, Josh, Mike, Emily, Chelsea, Emiley and Jacob; and his great grandchild Cole. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
