Michael left this world on December 8, 2025 at the age of 66, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Hammond and Dorothy Hammond (Trimm); his brother Thomas A. Hammond; and his brothers-in-law, Eugene VanGorder, Wade Elliott and James Stiles.

He is survived by: his son Dustin A. Gaberseck of DuBois, PA; and his siblings, Bernard L. R. Hammond (Dawn) of Rixford, Richard T. Hammond (Charlene Eaton) of Greensburg, PA, Dean M. Hammond (Amy) of Troupsburg, NY, Terry Williams (Brenda) of Keating Summit, Sally A. VanGorder of Port Allegany, Susan I. Herbert (Mark) of Port Allegany, Nancy M. Hagg (Gary) of Smethport and Laura L. Elliott (Mark VanGorder) of Smethport. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
