He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry J. Hemer and Helen Hemer (McClurg); and his sister Carol Rodefer. He is survived by: his wife Marie (Cercone); his sons, Richard (Lona Hemer), Thomas (Heidi Hemer) and Rob D'Atri (Rachna Rajen); his grandchildren, Tommy Hemer, Nick Hemer, Brooklyn Hemer, Amanda Guy (Ray), Taylor D'Atri, Austin D'Atri and Lucas D'Atri; his great grandchildren, Piper, Silas and Deklan Guy; his sister Jacquelyn (John Axtell); and his siblings-in-law, Marlene Admonius (late John), Alisa Schell and Bill Schell. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and many close lifelong friends.
