He was predeceased by: his son Wayne R. Shannon; his parents, Chester Shannon and Elaine Venosa (Kraut); his stepfather Jeffrey Venosa; and his sister Gail Shannon.
He is survived by: his siblings, Chester Shannon (Deborah) of Edison and Elaine Lindner (Timothy) of Colonia; his granddaughters, Kasandra, Shaylee and Adele Shannon; his great grandchildren, Waylan and Jamie Barnes; and his nieces and nephews, Jane Carroll (Tom), Mary Ellen Guida (Joey), William Shannon, Elaine Polites, Lisa Bogdan, Steven Young, Victoria Bowler, Alyssa Sarno (Anthony) and Tim Lindner. He is also survived by 10 grand nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Legion.
