He was predeceased by : his wife Lillian Hummer Hiller; his parents, Willard A. Hiller and Dorothy Cramer Hiller; and his siblings, Willard A. Hiller Jr. and Marion Martin.

He is survived by : his sons, John R. PhD and David A. (Donna) of Lake Sheridan; and his grandchildren, Wendi Griffiths (Emerson) and Matthew Hiller (Kailey Jenkins).

“So sorry to learn of the loss of your beloved father. Lillian was my Spanish instructor at Keystone Junior College in 1966. I will remember her always with love and thanks for preparing me so well for my future as a Spanish teacher. Her eyes shined brightly with pride and love when she spoke of her husband and children.
