He was predeceased by: his father Roger E. Payne. He is survived by: his mother Esther J. Payne (Cotner) of Danville; his sister Joyce Stevens (Michael) of Milan, OH; his nieces and nephews, Joshua Stevens, Madelyn Stevens (John Bazley), Emma Stevens (Jose Mitjavila) and Jacob Stevens; and his great-niece Louisa Bazley.
