He was predeceased by: his wife Carol Ann Hinkelman (Long); and his parents, Chester L. Hinkelman and Sara Helene Hinkelman (Rechel). He is survived by: his son Randy L. Hinkelman (Jennifer); and his granddaughters, Caroline Lindzee and Caitlin Nicole Hinkelman.
In lieu of flowers, Hink's family would like memorial donations in his name sent to the JMU Archery Alumni Association, 225 Weavers Road, Rockingham, VA 22802.
