He is survived by: his mother Laura Chappell of Derry; his wife Laura Ashbaugh Chappell; his son Scott Chappell (Cassie) of Latrobe; his stepchildren, Cassie Thompson (Carl) of New Florence and Chuck Hull (Kay) of Latrobe; and his siblings, Lori Bolish (Jerry) of Varnamtown, Marlene Chappell (Jeff) of Homer City, Vince Chappell (Carol) of Derry and Terry Chappell of Homer City. He is also survived by many grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
