He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Smyrski and Helen M. Smyrski (Pifko); and his pet Sammy. He is survived by: his brother John A. Smyrski, Jr. of Hastings, MN; and his siblings-in-law, David and Karen Hughes of Mechanicsburg. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
