He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Benjamin and Mary Louise Sheaffer (Kerr). He is survived by: his wife Brenda F. Sheaffer (Gochnauer); his sons, Nate W. Sheaffer (Ally) of Huntington and Adam M. Sheaffer of Dillsburg; and his brothers, William Sheaffer (Betsy), Thomas Sheaffer (Susan) and Scott Sheaffer (Laura). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
