It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy LaRue Ferrell of Dillsburg, Pennsylvania, who passed away on April 26, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter G. Shoop and Geneva L. Shoop (Boyer); her husband James Alford Ferrell; and her sister Edna Mae Shoop. She is survived by: her sisters, Midge Slicker of Gettysburg, Marlene Brown of Sarver, PA and Judy Shellhammer of Dillsburg. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dottie's name can be made to: Best Friends Animal Sanctuary https://bestfriends.org which was a sanctuary she and Jim visited and supported over the years. She also supported the mission of the Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania.
