He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar M. Arters and Amelia L. Arters (Hafer); his wife Sarah M. Arters; and his siblings, G. Frank Arters, Kenneth "Kenny" Arters, Ralph "Fritz" Arters, E. Virginia Shearer, Betty Krebs and Martha Wentzel.
He is survived by: his children, Gregory Arters and Beth M. Hagginbothom; his son-in-law Michael Hagginbothom; and his granddaughters, Alexa, Rachael, Hayley and Janelle. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren.
