He is survived by: his children, Lori Messersmith and Douglas Messersmith; his close friend Lorie Runk; his grandson Zachery Murtoff; and his siblings, Steven Messersmith, Graling Messersmith, Bessie Hoffeins and Lola Hill. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
