He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Shavel and Helen Shavel (Hovanec); and his siblings-in-law, Patricia Shavel and Frank Kokoszka. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Shavel (Catalogna); his sons, Lee M. Shavel (Kelly Deere) of Summit, NJ and John M. Shavel of Federal Way, WA; his grandchildren, Joan, Henry and George; and his siblings, Jerry Shavel of Greensburg, PA and Louise Kokoszka of Warrenton, VA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
