He was predeceased by parents, Edward and Lillian, his siblings, Jim, Patricia, and Lillian and his late wife, Frances. Robert is survived by his younger brother, Richard McGettigan (Dick); his son Michael; his daughter-in-law Staci; his daughter Colleen and her life partner Kirsten Ullman; his grandchildren, Brooke, Madison, Kory and Connor.
