He was predeceased by: his father George Bateman; and his brother Gary Bateman. He is survived by: his mother Florence Bateman (Schaffer); his daughter Melissa Powell; his siblings, Linda Newton (Steve Newton, Sr.), Lisa Becker and Mark Bateman; his siblings' children, Heather, Lilly, Cameron, Dylan, Rebecca, Robert of Natalia, RJ, Stephanie, Aleczander, Josh and Steve, Jr.; and his granddaughter Adrianyna.
