Gregory Stuart Bretz Obituary
Gregory Stuart Bretz of Elizabethtown passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022, in The Middletown Home with his loving wife by his side.
Born in Harrisburg on August 6, 1944, he was the son of the late William S. and Gladys Leidy Bretz.
Gregg retired as a Materials Technician from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation; and after retirement drove delivery truck for Worley Obetz Fuel Oil Company and school bus for Durham School Services in Elizabethtown. He was a graduate of Susquehanna Township High School. Gregg was an U.S. Air Force veteran having served in Vietnam. He was a member of the Proclamation Presbyterian Church of America, Mount Joy. Gregg was an active member of the Gideon's International for over 30 years. He was also a charter member of the former Conoy Lions Club and a member of the former Steelton VFW. A sports fan, especially of the Phillies, Gregg coached and umpired baseball. He loved his yellow Labrador Retriever Belle, playing golf, fishing and boating.
Gregg is survived by his wife of 31 years, Diane M. Kulp Bretz, whom he married on February 23, 1991; one daughter, Jennifer L. Miller wife of Alphonse of Elizabethtown; two sons, Gregory B. Bretz husband of Megan of Raleigh, NC, and Robert T. Kulp husband of Christy of Goshen, IN; seven grandchildren, Amanda Matta, Nicholas Miller, Alexander Miller, Gabrielle Bretz, Matthew Kulp, Nathan Kulp and Gianna Kulp; one sister, Margaret E. Bretz of Wilmington, DE; and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 11 AM in the Proclamation Presbyterian Church of America, located at the Kraybill Mennonite School, 598 Kraybill Church Road, Mount Joy, with Pastor Troy DeBruin, his pastor, officiating. A time to visit with the family will be held Saturday in the church from 10 AM until time of the service.
A private inurnment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, is handling the arrangements.
The family requests that donations be made in Gregg's name to The Gideons International Processing Center, PO Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090-7251.
