He was predeceased by: his parents, William B. McCardle and Anna P. Schwab McCardle; and his wife Amber Rae Hassinger McCardle. He is survived by: his children, Carole R. McCardle of Beavertown, Gena Bickhart, Michael Romig and Debra K. (Barry Sheesley) of Elizabethtown; and his great grandchildren, Kaitlyn A. Kunz, Devan A. Bickhart, Ashlyn R. Wise and Brysen N. Oberlin.
