He was predeceased by : his parents, Stanley Jacob and Thelma Montgomery Gartner; and his niece Julie Baker Dodson of Albuquerque, NM.. He is survived by : his sisters, Dinah Gartner Baker (Jack) of Mentor, OH and Sandy Gartner Shields (Tom) of Emporium, PA; his nieces, Jackie Sajewski of Mentor, Dianne Baker (Jay Odell) of Fredericksburg, VA and Stacy Shields of Philadelphia; and his nephew Stan Baker (Alison) of Fraser, CO. He is also survived by his family and many friends.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

“John was a kind man. He played Monopoly patiently with me when I was a child when my family was going through a hard time. He was always there for my mom if she needed help. He was one of her best friends. He was a lot of fun...and refused to conform to unnecessary constructing societal norms. I will pray many rosaries for the repose of your soul. God bless.”
