With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Frances Hatheway of Erie, Pennsylvania, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Frances left this world on July 28, 2025 at the age of 84, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Portfilio and Josephine Damico Trucco; her stepfather Sebastian Trucco; her husband Donald J. Hatheway; and her siblings, Anthony Portfilio, Mary Ann Feltenberger, Ernestine Paulson and Christine Kowalski.
She is survived by: her children, Patti Maguire (Dennis) of Erie, PA, Donald Hatheway, Jr. (Rhonda) of Erie, PA and Mark Hatheway (Lori) of Erie, PA; her grandchildren, Ryan French, Maria French-Roan (Scott), Chelsea Kapuscinski (Chris), Donald Hatheway, III, Morgan, Veronica and Reagan Hatheway; her great grandchildren, Francesca and Eden Kapuscinski; and her siblings-in-law, Richard Hatheway of Dallas, TX, Jean Hatheway (Rosanne Hatheway) of Dewittville, NY, Larry Kowalski of Erie, PA and Fran Feltenberger. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Mercy Church (837 Bartlett Rd, Harborcreek, PA 16421). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. An entombment will be held on Wednesday, August 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery (5711 W Lake Rd, Erie, PA 16505).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Erie VA Medical Center, 135 E. 38th St Boulevard, Erie, PA 16504.
