She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry VanDerGriend and Dorothy Kaster VanDerGriend; her husband Edward E. Johnson Sr.; her son James A. Johnson; and her brother Robert VanDerGriend.
She is survived by: her children, Bonnie Jean Johnson, Edward E. Johnson, Jr., Jessie M. Johnson, Debbie Johnson, Dorothy Coleman (Alfonzo) and Ruth Ann Johnson; and her close friends, Holly, Ven, Joe, Austin, Alec and Faye. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.
