He was predeceased by: his parents, Hjørdis and Captain Ivar Olsen; his son Espen; his great-nephew Diderik; his nephew Andrew; his sister-in-law Målfrid; and his brothers, Øivind and Dagfinn.

He is survived by: his wife Liv; his daughter Nina (Nick); and his nieces and nephews, Trine, Lars, Petter, Karin and Elaine. He is also survived by other extended family members and countless friends.
