William J. Bengel Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of William J. Bengel of Erie, Pennsylvania, who passed away on October 9, 2025 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Bengel and Ruth Bengel (Stutz); and his wife Jill Bengel (Figurski). He is survived by: his sons, Matthew Bengel (Xenia Chu) of Erie, Joshua Bengel (Karen) of Erie and Eric Bengel (Courtney) of Erie; his grandchildren, Kailah, Codey, Matthew Jr., Eythan, Trenton, Quinton, Nora, Claire, Emmett, Chloe, Jordynn and Carson; and his siblings, Rick Bengel (Jessica), Bob Bengel (Mary), Kathy Cornish (Don) of Erie, Charlene Frank (George) of Erie and Karen Bengel of Bethesda, MD. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (816 W 26th St, Erie, PA 16508).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mercyhurst Prep or to a charity of one's choice.
