He was predeceased by: his parents, A. H. Grubbs and Ruth Lindsay Grubbs. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Kohler Grubbs; his sons, David M. Grubbs (Erin Leasher-Grubbs) and Patrick W. Grubbs (Sarah); his grandchildren, Joredan (Giorgio), Brady (Ariel), Cameron (Paige), Graeson, Tristan, Parker, Emersyn, Emily, Toby and Charlotte; his great grandchildren, Zander, Hazelynn, Nevaeh, Wrenleigh, Adalynn, Kinley, Lennox, Harper, Gunnar, Layla and Maverick; his siblings, Stan Grubbs (Lisa Reynolds-Grubbs), Donald Grubbs and Virginia "Ginny" Monk (Rory); his mother-in-law Patricia "Jean" Kohler; his siblings-in-law, Harvey Kohler (Peggy), Carolyn Huttinger (Mike), Rhoda Kohler and Michelle Kohler; his sister Elva Dixon; his father-in-law Raymond Kohler; and his brother-in-law Frank Kohler. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dave's honor to St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
