He was predeceased by: his parents, Earle Robert and Donaldine Elizabeth Gelwicks (Hann); his siblings, Joan Elower, Donaldine Singley, Margaret Ridenour, Robert, Mark and John Gelwicks; and his brother-in-law Donald Elower.
He is survived by: his wife Teresa Gelwicks (Smith); his daughters, Shannon Amaral of Wellsboro, Jamie Harner (Chad) of Fairfield, Michelle Anders (Jay) of Fairfield, Angela Johnson (Steve) of Gettysburg, Christina Hewitt (Eric) of Fairfield and Maria Gelwicks (D. J. Burrier, Jr.) of Waynesboro; and his siblings, Mary Anne Baker of Finksburg, Maryland and Joseph Gelwicks (Sandra) of Emmitsburg. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Myers-Durboraw Funeral Home (210 W Main St, Emmitsburg, MD 21727). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church (47 Depaul St, Emmitsburg, MD 21727). A burial will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at the New St. Joseph Cemetery (331 S Seton Ave, Emmitsburg, MD 21727).
