He was predeceased by: his parents, Barbara and Hobart J. Gates Jr. For. He is survived by: his wife Susan Gates; his daughter Becky Currid (Joseph); his grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kaitlyn and Joseph II; his children, Todd Gates, Evan and Lylah; and his sisters, Beverly Gates and Debra Hamilton (Dan). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
