He is survived by: his wife Ella Jane Warner Hess; his children, Janene Petrie (Karl) of Waynesboro, Darren L. Hess of North Wales and Dr. Nathan Hess of Erie; his grandson Joel Horne of Hummelstown; and his sisters, Joyce Pennewill of Shrewsbury and Linda Keperling of Gaithersburg, MD..
