He was predeceased by: his parents, Orvis Smail and Helen Smail. He is survived by: his wife Louise Smail; his children, Harold Smail, Lane Smail (Virginia), Dale Smail (Elaine), LuAnne Smail, Karen Earley (Michael) and Rebecca Smail; his siblings, Jane Kelley, Viola Bane and Ralph Smail; and his brother-in-law Jim Cavalier. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren.
