He was predeceased by : his parents, Joseph Henry and Helen Mest (Romig); and his siblings, Robert, Barry Mest, Dorothy Yusko, Joyce Ruppert, Joan Olinger and Ruth Dudanowicz.

He is survived by : his wife Carol A. Mest (Phillips); his children, Charles A. Mest Jr. (Carol), Joseph H. Mest (Debbie), Charlene Sulzer (Edward), John Mest (Darlene) and Cheree Rothenberger (Jacob); his stepdaughters, Michelle Weller, Renee MacDonald and Rhonda Kline; and his brothers, Gary and David Mest.
